摘要：A passive optical network (PON) comprising optical fibers and optical couplers.An central equipment comprises a hub , plural modems , a mixer , and a splitter . Carrier
waves of a predetermined frequency are assigned to the plural modems and eachcustomer equipment . In the downstream, the hub selects each modem (that is, eachcustomer equipment ) and converts the assigned carrier wave into modulated signals.The modulated signals are mixed in the mixture , converted into frequency-multiplexedsignals, and transmitted through a first optical coupler to the customer equipment . Eachcustomer equipment demodulates the signals by using carrier waves of the assignedfrequency. In the upstream, a first optical coupler converts signals from each customerequipment into frequency-multiplexed signals and transmits to the central equipment . Inthe central equipment , the splitter branches the signals per each carrier wave of theassigned wavelength, and each modem demodulates the signals. As a result, a passiveoptical network (PON) is realized.
